Being a female tattoo artist in 2025

September 2025

When I first stepped into the tattoo industry, I knew I was entering a world that was still seen as male-dominated. But I also knew that tattooing was where my creativity and passion came alive — and I wasn’t going to let stereotypes decide my place.

Being a woman in this field has meant pushing through barriers, proving myself through hard work, and carving out space where clients feel safe, respected, and inspired. Over the years, I’ve learned that the needle isn’t just a tool for ink — it’s a way to tell stories, honor identities, and help people wear their confidence on their skin.

As a female artist, I’ve found that many clients seek me out not just for my style, but because they feel safe and comfortable opening up in my chair. Creating a supportive, welcoming studio atmosphere that offers a high level of privacy is just as important to me as the designs I put onto skin.

I’m proud to be part of a growing movement of women changing what tattooing looks and feels like.

Every time I design a piece, work with a client, or see someone walk away glowing with their new tattoo, I know I’m helping to reshape the industry for the better.

Being a woman in tattooing hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been powerful, rewarding, and endlessly inspiring. I appreciate every opportunity my clients give me I know I owe everything to their trust.

First tattoo - how to get started

July 28th 2025

So you’ve decided you want a tattoo, you might have known for years exactly what you want, you might only have a vague idea, but now what?

Well the first step is to find the right artist for the job, one who makes you feel comfortable, who works somewhere clean and accessible for you, and who will be  enthusiastic about your tattoo and is capable or experienced in the style you would like.

Next, send them a message or email, tell them where you want the tattoo on your body - forearm/calf/ribs etc, approximately how big in cm or inches, and a basic description of the idea you have. Attach photos for reference if possible and explain what it is you like from each one, it will make the process much faster!

After that your artist should be able to give you a quote and offer you a time slot, easy peasy!
